“One of the things we love about our love story, is that we were able to form a deep friendship before we ever started dating. We both remember the first time we met: Kerri was attending Cleveland Bible in March 2014, and Sam was invited by a mutual friend to attend one of the evening sessions. She introduced us, we shook hands, and though neither of us quite believes in love at first sight, we both admit there was definitely attraction at first sight.
A few months after that, Sam’s family started attending Cleveland, and we soon found ourselves seeing quite a bit of each other. We had a lot of mutual friends, and we enjoyed working together at a children’s ministry we both volunteered at.
After about a year of getting to know each other as friends (and facing a multitude of questions, hints, and conjectures about our relationship status from friends and acquaintances, despite the fact that we had never even discussed the idea of a romantic relationship with each other), a few weeks after Kerri had finally made up her mind that she would say yes if this guy ever asked to date her, Sam showed up at her door and completely surprised her with a huge bouquet of roses and asked her to be his girlfriend.
In the year since then, we’ve experienced so much- challenging separations, and happy reunions, heartbreaking loss, and joyful beginnings. God has brought us through so much, and done far above all that we could ask or think for us. We’re so excited to promise forever, and see where He will take us together.”
